In the old days, Jehoshaphat was surrounded by a vast army from Edom. Even though he was frightened, he first sought God's help. He told God that "We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you". That's the way he communicated with God! We should learn from his prayer and always cast our eyes on God.
God's messager came to Jehoshaphat and said to him "Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you." How amazing it is to have God with us! When we are faithful, God will send someone to deliver His encouragement to us. And when we follow His instruction with faith, He will repay us by fulfilling His promise to us. 2 Chronicles 20:22 "As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated." Sometimes God fulfilled His promise out of a sudden, just like He saved Jehoshaphat from his enemies.
Lord, thank you for your encouragement to us. Deliver us from our enemies and help us to walk in your way. Forgive our sins and let us walk with you. Amen!
