The meaning of Jesus' sufferings!

NIV Isaiah 53:4 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.

In the book of Job, Job's friends saw Job's suffering and accused him of doing evil. Because of our human nature, we tend to have the same feeling as Job's three friends: believing that suffering is a punishment for sin.

Just like some people in the old days thought that Jesus came down to the Earth and bore the pain of crucifixion on the cross was a kind of punishment by God. NIV Isaiah 53:4 "Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted." Jesus has forsaken the supreme glory of heaven and His resurrection is to fulfill prophecy and pay for our salvation. It is out of the unconditional love instead of God's punishment for sin!

Lord, thank you for Jesus' love for us. He bears our sins, pain and transgressions so that we can have have His healing, righteousness and victory. Forgive our sins and let us come closer to you. Amen!
