Resist the temptation!

NIV James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Temptation itself is not a sin, the problem arises when we decide to sin against God. NIV James 1:12 says "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." Our merciful God allows us to have freedom for choices, but I am sure all of us know that not all opportunities are from God. We need to be cautious and choose to wait for God's instructions before moving forward.

Having said that "Haste makes waste", like in the old testament, King Saul did not wait for Samuel's late coming and offered the burnt offering. Since he had not kept what God commanded him, he lost God's blessings to rule over Israel forever. James reminded us that double-minded people can't get anything from God, if we can't overcome our arrogance and keep pushing things forward, we will lose God's blessings as what Saul did. Waiting for God patiently can help us enjoy God's blessings.

Father, thank you for teaching us to wait for you patiently. Help us to overcome the temptation to derive us from your blessings. Strengthen our hearts and faith in you so that we can enjoy the things you have promised. Amen!
