NIV Mark 6:25 At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request: "I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter."
John the Baptist preached and baptized others in the early 1st century AD, he prepared the way for Jesus Christ. Herod feared John and protected him because deep down his heart he knew John is a righteous and holy man. But his wife Herodias wanted to kill John for a long time as John told Herod it was not lawful for him to have his brother's wife.
Finally, the opportunity came and NIV Mark 6:25 At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request: "I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter." John was killed as a result of Herodias' revenge and Herod's weedy heart. Herod knows that John has done nothing wrong but he is afraid of losing respect from his people due to breaking his promise to give Herodias' daughter whatever she wants. In a dilemma like this, what will you choose? Will you hold fast to God's words or will you compromise to the earthly threats?
Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus to baptise us with Holy Spirits. We are now cleansed by His sacrifice on the cross. Strengthen our faith in you so that we won't move left and right but walk in your way confidently. Amen!
