NIV Proverbs 12:20 Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy.
Jesus is called the Prince of Peace in the bible, He wants us to be peacemakers to others too. But we all know that it pays a price to pursue peace. We will need to give up to put others first and we can have some encouragement of being a peacemaker from NIV Proverbs 12:20 "Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy." God favors the peacemaker and He will reward us with joy, pleasure, and satisfaction.
In the old testament, Abram let Lot choose the place to live after their separation to avoid further conflicts with each other. King David gave up the chance to kill Saul and continued to suffer from the attack from Saul. Even though both guys suffered physically and mentally to be a peace promoter, our faithful God did not give them up and He rewarded them by granting land to Abram and a nation to David.
Father, thank you for giving peace and joy to us. Help us to learn how to put others before ourselves and be a peacemaker in the world. We prayed in Jesus' Holy Name, Amen!
